Old Ochre was used to transform a framed mirror in a client’s bedroom…
We were doing two different areas (I will share the other project later this week), so Mr. BP volunteered to help me out…
Filling the screw holes was a top priority…
I decided to add detail with beading to create an inset. If you ever decide to do this, I recommend painting the frame first, letting it dry, then adding the beads and your second coat. I didn’t do this, and it was fine – but I did have to use my brush to pounce the paint in.
After it was painted, I used Wipe Off poly (not wax due to the detail) and then used artist paint mixed with a little poly to glaze.
It turned out just gorgeous – I didn’t get a good after shot that wasn’t too revealing of the client’s bedroom – I will try again next time.

Beautiful Beverly! I must get some of that Annie Sloan paint!
I have done this on a frame of my daughters I love the extra dimension.

This is a great idea- super smart!
I really love this project. Adding drama and giving it a vintage look! Can you be more specific about the process – what kind of “poly”? Is it a Sloan product too? Was this to seal it?
